Back The Attack on Asthma & Allergies Door-to-Door Campaign

From June 1 – 7, thousands of dedicated volunteer canvassers will hit the streets in communities across Saskatchewan including: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, North Battleford, Regina, Southey, Lumsden, Pilot Butte, Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Yorkton, and Estevan to give people an opportunity to support our programs and services in the area of asthma and allergies.

Area Captains

Each city or town is divided into areas. The areas are divided into zones. The zones are divided into walks or routes. An Area Captain is assigned one geographical area and is responsible for delivering materials to all the zone captains in that area (approximately 10). All of the materials are provided by The Lung Association with clearly marked contact information. Deliveries take place in mid-May. Once this task is complete, the Area Captain has fulfilled their commitment to the campaign.

Zone Captains

A Zone Captain is assigned one geographical zone and is responsible for delivering materials to all the canvassers in that zone (approximately 10). Zone Captains receive their materials from an Area Captain. Deliveries to canvassers take place in late May. The Zone Captains are also responsible for collecting the materials back from the canvassers after they have completed their routes. The kits are turned in to a Lung Association office or a key volunteer (depending on the community). Once this task is complete, the Zone Captain has fulfilled their commitment to the campaign.

Canvassers

Canvassers receive their canvassing kit from a Zone Captain. They are responsible for visiting the homes in their walk or route (approximately 25 – 30) to ask for donations to The Lung Association. Canvassing takes place from June 1st to June 7th. The kit contains an official receipt book, a sample script to make it easy, and other campaign materials. Once they have completed their route, the canvasser turns in all collected monies, the receipt book, and any leftover supplies to the Zone Captain. Their commitment has then been fulfilled.

Thank you in advance to the thousands of people that “back the attack” on asthma and allergies by contributing their time or by making donations!
