Artworks
Moments Rest - Carmen Heinrichs A male bluebird rests for a moment on an old wagon wheel amidst the overgrown prairie grasses. His brilliant blue colour sets him apart from his earthy surroundings. He will soon be a flitter of blue moving over the prairie landscape. Approximate framed value $150. 2002 - Limited Edition Print 72/250 www.carmenart.ca
Reflections of the Past - Dan Reid The reflection of two remaining elevators appears in standing water beside the railway tracks as the sun rises over the prairies. Approximate value $150. 2011 - Limited Edition Giclee Print 7/250 www.danreidartwork.com
Prairie Memories - Glen Scrimshaw This painting was commissioned by a Toronto-area entrepreneur, originally from Saskatchewan. He wanted a piece for his meditation room that reminded him of home to help him relax: after a hectic day of battling traffic. The blue sky and white, puffy clouds are markedly different from Glen's usual style consisting of sunsets, sunrises, lightning, and northern lights. Approximate framed value $380. 2011 - Limited Edition Print 32/199 www.glenscrimshaw.com
The Camp: Year of the Metis - Yvonne Kydd The Metis are an indigenous First People of Canada who trace their descent to mixed European and First Nation parentage. The Metis played a vital role in the success of the western fur trade. Many were involved in the gathering and transportation of furs for large trading companies, often hauling goods from all corners of the North West Territories. Approximate framed value $425. 2010 - Limited Edition Print 414/420 www.yvonnekydd.com
Home Free - Jason Leo Bantle This photograph was taken at Churchill, Manitoba. While mom kept a close watch from their nearby den, these two cubs spent the better part of the day playing. What began as a game of tag seemed to end when one of the cubs made it to a small tree almost as though it served as home base! After a short break, the game was on again. Approximate framed value $285. 2010- Limited Edition Print 101/150 www.bantlephoto.com
Sea Otter Study - Robert Bateman The sea otter spends a lot of time floating on its back. Sea otters rest by wrapping themselves in kelp so they can move with the swells without being carried along by the current - an enviable life! Approximate framed value $500. 1990-Artist's Proof 57/76 www.robertbateman.ca
Canada Warbler & Pear Blossom - Robert Bateman The northern hemisphere is home to about 50 species of warblers. They are mostly vivid in colour and sprightly in behaviour. As a boy birder, one of my great joys was to watch the warblers during spring migration. They would come in waves, often with several species in one tree, feeding and singing their hearts out. Approximate framed value $500. 1999 -Artist's Proof 62/76 www.robertbateman.ca
Big Pines ofTemagami - Robert Bateman When I was young, our family would go for hikes in nearby woods. The sight of the white pines on the hilltops as well as the sound of the wind song through their boughs gave me a sense of serenity combined with mystery. More recently, I flew in a small aircraft to the Temagami area of northern Ontario to see an area of old white and red pines which had survived the loggers' saws. This bird's eye-view also shows a bald eagle and canoe trippers. Approximate .framed value $500. 1990 - Artist's Proof 65/76 www.robertbateman.ca
Chateau Poppies - Val Moker European poppies are the inspiration for "Chateau Poppies". They were growing in front of the Chateau at Lake Louise, Alberta. It was so nice to see this spectacular field of red moving to the beat of Mother Nature. Approximate framed value $335. 1994 - Limited Edition Print 370/450 www.valmoker.com
The Safety of Water - Joseph Koensgen One of the most welcomed signs of spring is the return of the Canada Goose to its northern nesting grounds. It is a familiar sight to see protective parents taking the yellow goslings out in the water to keep them away from danger. The parents keep a watchful eye on what's going on around them as the young geese do their best to keep up. Approximate framed value $525. 2010- Limited Edition Print 16/250 www.josephkoensgen.com
Our Girls find heroes - Naomi Gerrard Our girls find their heroes in their family, their school, their community and their world around them. I was fascinated when watching a group of little girls getting excited about photos of their friends and photos of celebrities and how they were influenced by opinions of friends. This is an acrylic painting on canvas. Approximate framed value $550. 2006- Original Art www.members.shaw.ca/ngerrard
