Patient Information

PMS-Nystatin® oral suspension is meant to be taken by mouth at regular intervals.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed and it is almost time for your next dose, do not double the dose (unless you have been told to do so).
It is important to continue taking the medication until finished, even if signs or symptoms of the infection disappear before the prescription is completely finished this will ensure the infection is completely gone and prevent recurrence. Shake the container well before each use.
Each bottle should come with it's own calibrated measuring device (a dropper). Try to swish each dose thoroughly (for as long as possible) in the mouth before swallowing and do not eat or drink anything for 20 to 30 minutes afterward. This will help increase the contact time of the medication with the infected area. When treating a young child or infant, try to "paint" the medication over the inside of the mouth and allow them to swallow as usual. Depending on the length of treatment, you may be given 2 or more bottles of PMS-Nystatin® suspension.
