Regina Resident WINS the 2008 Stamp Out Asthma Raffle
The official draw ceremonies for the 2008 Stamp Out Asthma Raffle took place Friday, December 5 at The Lung Association of Saskatchewan provincial office in Saskatoon.
Congratulations to Regina resident, Susan Roberts, the winner of our grand prize of $61,040 tax-free cash. “I chose to support the Stamp Out Asthma Raffle because I have asthma,” says Susan. “Also as a health care professional I know that asthma can restrict normal day-to-day activity when not properly managed and the quality education and support programs that The Lung Association provides make a tremendous difference to children and adults alike,” she adds.
Winners of the other prizes including the $11,000 Dream Trip OR $10,000 cash, a wide range of electronics prizes, and the 4-Pack Bonus Prize of $1,444 were also drawn. Winners’ names will be posted on The Lung Association of Saskatchewan website at www.sk.lung.ca and published in the Saskatoon StarPhoenix and the Regina Leader-Post on Saturday, December 13. Winners will also be notified by letter.
“We are so pleased with the response we have had to this new raffle,” stated Dr. Brian Graham, CEO of The Lung Association. “The funds we raised will be used for exciting new initiatives benefiting a broad range of children all across Saskatchewan with asthma. The funds will also allow us to continue our education programs for families and caregivers to encourage asthma self-management skills and to support asthma research in Saskatchewan. Thank you to everyone who participated in the raffle!” (Lottery License #L08-0150)
Asthma is a chronic lung disease. It is characterized by difficulty in breathing causing coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, or tightness in the chest. Asthma can develop at any age but is most common in children. It is the leading cause of childhood disability and school absenteeism. Asthma cannot be cured. Although potentially life-threatening, it can be managed with education, environmental changes, and proper medications.
On behalf of Saskatchewan children and adults with asthma, thank you to everyone that purchased tickets this year. We appreciate your support!
